- April 15, 2011 Release: Administration Releases Strategy to Protect Online Consumers and Support Innovation and Fact Sheet on National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace
- President Obama released NSTIC as a way to improve security in cyberspace and e-commerce. NSTIC charts a course for the public and private sectors to collaborate to raise the level of trust associated with the identities of individuals, organizations, networks, services and devices involved in online transactions.

December 8 - 9, 2011 - Privacy-Enhancing Cryptography Meeting
- A meeting on Privacy- Enhancing Cryptography: "Working with encrypted data without decrypting" was held at NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland USA. The workshop discussed how modern cryptographic techniques can help protect privacy in an environment where many players are collaborating and competing as consumers and producers of digital goods and services. Among the discussion topics are medical databases, on-line auctions, privacy-friendly smart-meters, and identity management as envisioned by the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace.

- Provides guidance for the steering committee and should serve as a “touchstone” for proposals, according to the solicitation.

March 15, 2012 - Identity Ecosystem Governance Workshop
- A workshop was held on Identity Ecosystem Governance at the Department of Commerce (DOC), Washington, DC USA. This workshop reviewed and took questions on NIST's February 2012 paper, Recommendations for Establishing an Identity Ecosystem Governance Structure, and on specific issues concerning the establishment of that governance structure.
