I am a General Manager at Intel responsible for Intel's software and services security strategy. I have been driving Intel's sofware security strategy for several years and was instrumental in the Intel decision to acquire McAfee. Identity is a key part of Intel's security strategy as evidenced by several hardware features in our microprocessors, by our development of enterprise identity software products and services and by our acquition of Nordic Edge.
Team Effectiveness: Please describe in 6 to 10 sentences how you have demonstrated an ability to work effectively within the scope of a governing board.
I am a member of the McAfee board of directors and was chairman of the Nordic Edge management committee.
Expertise: Please describe in 6 to 10 sentences the field of endeavor where you are recognized as an expert.
I have been in the computer industry for many years. I have worked for Digital Equipment Corporation, Compaq, HP and now Intel. I have focused on enterprise systems, software and services. I am now driving Intel's software and services security strategy.
Commitment: Please describe how much time per month and what effort you are willing to contribute to the role.
I can devote 2 to 3 days a month.
Breadth of Experience: Please describe in 6 to 10 sentences how you have demonstrated breadth of experience.
I have been in the computer and IT industry for many years. I have designed computers and have managed teams from as small 10 people to as large as 5000 people -- teams that designed and delivered products such as microprocessors, compilers, operating systems, firewalls, enterprise security products, and high performance sytems.

Board Experience: Please describe in 6 to 10 sentences how you have demonstrated the ability to effectively lead a significant organization or organization's board.
I have been a general manager of large hardware and software development groups for more than 20 years -- the largest group having approximately 5000 employees. I have managed businesses with P and L's as large as $2B dollars.
Bio
Don is the general manager of the Security Software and Services Division in the Software and Services Group. Don is responsible for developing and driving the security services strategy for SSG, including direct involvement with McAfee as a member of the McAfee BOD and as a driver for McAfee – Intel joint synergy projects. He is also responsible for the Service Business Unit which invests in service business throughout Intel.
Since joining Intel in 2003, Don has been the General Manager of the Enterprise Software and Solutions Division, the Parallel and Distributed Solutions Division and the co-general manager of the Developer Products Division – all in SSG.
Prior to joining Intel, Don had a distinguished career at Hewlett Packard, Compaq and Digital Equipment Corporation where he was the General Manager of the High Performance System Division with full P&L responsibility for a $2B worldwide computer systems business.
Don also held several general management positions leading software and hardware product lines including the Alta Vista Internet Business, the Digital UNIX business, and the VAX midrange computer business.
Don started his career as an R&D project officer in the US Air Force.
He holds BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering from Iowa State University and has attended several executive leadership courses from Harvard, MIT, Dartmouth, and Wharton.

I have a demonstrated capability to influence and lead senior technologists and the ability to understand and optimize the development of new, and the application of existing, technology standards to meet interoperability requirements. I have deep knowledge of a wide range of technologies related to identity such as semiconductors, software, systems, services, and security software. As the driver of security software and services for Intel, I can help drive new identity standards and technology throughout the company.
